Friday 29 th May - Ascent of Scafell Pike from Wasdale Head

Our objective for our short break was to climb Scarfell Pike (6 children, four adults and a dog). Luckily the weather cleared on our final day to reveal this lovely view of wastwater and its screes from the start of our walk at Wasdale Head.

Starting to climb up.

Wastwater and Illgill Head on the left with Lingmell Gill in the foreground.

Scafell Pike on the left, Sca Fell on the right and our path leading to Mickledore in the middle.

Starting the final climb up to the Pike at Mickledore with Scafell behind.

And here we are on the huge summit cairn, our turn to be the highest (earthbound) people in England for a few moments.

Our party at lunch, as you can see weren't alone!

We descended by the larger 'tourist' path, it was very very busy.

Cooling off in Lingmell Gill.

A final look back from the end of the walk, Lingmell on the left, Scafell Pike in the middle and Scafell on the middle right.
