Keswick rambling club approaching Holme Fell summit with the Langdale Pikes in the distance [Sunday 2/10/2008 by Anne Bowker]
Townend Barn at Troutbeck, taken during my recent holiday. This is one of the best examples of a Bank Barn in the Lakes, it is built on a bank so that animals can shelter underneath while fodder can be stored above. The oldest part was built in 1666 by a George Browne. In farming villages such as troutbeck a agricultural building like this would have been a status symbol .
