There are two similar species which are difficult to tell apart, I think this is more likely to be Bombus terrestris rather than Bombus lucorum as the yellow hairs are more orangey than yellow.

Johnny Kingdom

Just in case you don't know Johnny Kingdom is a naturalist, wildlife photographer, TV personality, author, and gravedigger! He roams the Exmoor countryside filming the wildlife and people of the moor. His most recent TV programme is called "Johnny's New Kingdom" and follows his exploits as he develops a 52-acre plot of land on the edge of Exmoor as a haven for local wildlife. Wainwright's widow Betty dies
The Grough - 21st August

Alfred Wainwright’s second wife and fellwalking companion in his later life has died. Wainwright married Betty McNally in 1970 after his first marriage to Ruth had broken up. A non-driver, he relied on Betty to chauffer him around the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales in order for him to compile his later books.
