The Gosforth cross is the tallest Viking Cross in England. It is an awe-inspiring thought that this monolithic 4.5-metre cross has stood here since about the year 940.

Maiden Flight of Osprey Chicks

Two of three osprey chicks at Bassenthwaite Lake have successfully taken their first flights. The birds of prey have become a star tourist attraction, having attracted around 50,000 people so far this year.
