The Jubilee Monument on Beacon Hill at Orton Scar, looking south east towards the Howgills It was constructed in 1887 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria. The dramatic scenery of the Scar was used in the filming of "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" [15/7/2008 by Andrew Leaney]
