The ascent up Cat Bells

This is a subtle example of HDR (high dynamic range) photography. Jo has taken two shots at different exposures and merged them together to create one picture (with a single shot the shadows would be black or the sunlit areas white)

An Owl Barn (Where a Barn Owl lives), The South Downs, West Sussex [4/6/2008 at 7.30pm, my own picture] ![]()
I have a rather embarrassing story that I will share with you connected to this picture. Last summer I was cycling past with my son when we stopped to explore this shack found an owl's nest box inside. I picked up an own pellet from the ground nearby and explained what it was to my son. When we got home I put the owl pellet in a jar of water so we could disolve it and seen what it had eaten from the bone fragments. It became apparent during the evening that it wasn't an owl pellet at all - but was fox poo!. This caused my family (and my sister's family who were visting) unbridled joy as I am supposed to be the naturalist in the family.
Why not do something amazing today?
No, I am not talking about something as painful as giving blood! Why not make a small donation to the charity WaterAid. Just £15 can provide one person with a lasting supply of safe, clean water. Our ambitious fundraising target of £3210 is calculated to help one person for each of Wainwright's 214 fells!. Find out more and make a small donation
