I'd Rather Be in the Lake District

Attempting to punt on the River Cam at the Bridge of Sighs in Cambridge [27/5/2008, my own picture] enlarge image

It may look relaxing in the films but for a novice zig-zagging from bank to bank and crashing into other punts and bridges can be quite stressful!

The Bridge of Sighs is part of St John's College of Cambridge University. It was built in 1831 and is named after the Bridge of Sighs in Venice (although they have little architecturally in common beyond the fact that they are both covered). The bridge is one of Cambridge's main tourist attractions and Queen Victoria is said to have loved it more than any other spot in the city

Why not do something amazing today?

No, I am not talking about something as painful as giving blood! Why not make a small donation to the charity WaterAid. Just £15 can provide one person with a lasting supply of safe, clean water. Our ambitious fundraising target of £3210 is calculated to help one person for each of Wainwright's 214 fells!. Find out more and make a small donation
