UPDATED: Oil Spillage into Coniston Water did not damage wildlife
BBC News - 5 Mar 2008

Up to 1,000 litres of high-sulphur red diesel seeped into Coniston Water on January 17th. A spokesman from the Environment Agency said aquatic and wildlife did not appear to have suffered any ill effects as a result of the pollution.
